Join us for a panel discussion with prominent Black Canadian Young Adult authors Asha Bromfield, Sarah Raughley and Liselle Sambury. Yolanda T. Marshall facilitates the 45-minute discussion and question period.
Asha Bromfield is an actress, singer and writer of Afro-Jamaican descent. The author of Hurricane Summer is known for her role as Melody Jones, drummer of Josie and the Pussycats in television show Riverdale. She also stars as Zadie Wells in Locke and Key.
Sarah Raughley is the author of The Bones of Ruin and the Effigies series. Sarah works in the community doing writing workshops for youths and adults. With a PhD in English, her research concerns representations of race and gender in popular media culture, youth culture, and post-colonialism.
Liselle Sambury is the Trinidadian-Canadian author of Blood Like Magic. She shares helpful tips for upcoming writers and details of her publishing journey through her YouTube channel dedicated to helping demystify the sometimes complicated business of being an author.
Yolanda T. Marshall is a Guyanese-born Canadian children’s book author of Keman’s First Carnival, A Piece of Black Cake for Santa, Sweet Sorrel Stand, Miles Away In The Caribbean and C is for Carnival.
