Listen to live music each Friday at Noon at Central Library.
This week New Mother Nature takes the stage in Central Library's Hamilton Room. Thomas Duxbury, and his band New Mother Nature based out of Hamilton have been making waves since 2018 with his genre-defying blend of blues, garage rock, folk and country. They deliver energetic performances that have earned them a place opening for notable artists such as The Commoners, The Dirty Nil, Sam Coffey and The Iron Lungs, as well as performing at festivals and clubs across Canada and the UK. Now, the band is crafting their second studio album, drawing inspiration from diverse influences like The Guess Who, Crosby, Stills, Nash, and Young, Modest Mouse and The Black Keys.

The first Hamilton Public Library building opened on September 16, 1890 by the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen on the north side of Main Street West. In 1913, a new main library opened. This building was replaced in 1980 by Central Library, at the current location on York Boulevard.
In 2010, Central Library re-opened after approximately 18 months of renovations. Central Library opened with a newly revitalized first floor, which includes a Community Living Room that takes advantage of natural light. The Ontario Library Association honoured Central in 2012 with an Architectural and Design Transformation award.
