Listen to live music each Friday at Noon at Central Library.
This week The Duet Club takes the stage in Central Library's Hamilton Room. The Duet Club of Hamilton presents its chorus, Women of Song. The Duet Club is the longest standing women's musical group of its kind in Canada and was established in 1889 by music teacher Ellen Ambrose. The Duet Club also provides musical scholarships to talented young musicians and provides a platform and audience for them to showcase their talents. Women of Song are a four-part choir (SSAA) where members enjoy singing a variety of musical genres for audiences in the Hamilton area. The choir is led by Artistic Director Dawn Martens and accompanied by Ethan Lacey.

The first Hamilton Public Library building opened on September 16, 1890 by the Earl and Countess of Aberdeen on the north side of Main Street West. In 1913, a new main library opened. This building was replaced in 1980 by Central Library, at the current location on York Boulevard.
In 2010, Central Library re-opened after approximately 18 months of renovations. Central Library opened with a newly revitalized first floor, which includes a Community Living Room that takes advantage of natural light. The Ontario Library Association honoured Central in 2012 with an Architectural and Design Transformation award.
