In celebration of National Jazz Appreciation Month, the Rob Fekete Quartet performs live at the Sherwood Branch. Presented courtesy of the Hamilton Musicians' Guild. Robert is a Canadian jazz pianist who has been performing with various artists for the past 36 years. He is a graduate of the Master of Music degree from the University of Toronto. Robert is a composer with two self-titled releases: Ternary and Transition. He has composed for television and other media. He has also performed in Great Britain at Ronnie Scots in Birmingham and the Cardiff Bay Jazz Festival in Wales. Robert has performed in Holland, in Amsterdam and Groningen, as part of a jazz fusion tour. Robert has performed with Canadian singers Heather Bambrick and Avery Rachel. When he is not performing and composing, Robert teaches jazz at The Faculty of Music at McMaster University and privately.

The Sherwood Branch was opened as a storefront in a small plaza on Upper Ottawa Street in November 1966. In 1981, the Branch expanded and eventually moved to a larger and brighter facility in June 1991. Sherwood Branch was most recently renovated in 2010.
