Barton - Gallery DisplayMcMaster University is conducting a study called SCORE! Active. The study focuses on engaging newcomer families and promoting healthy lifestyles to reduce the risk of chronic illnesses.
McMaster University is conducting research for the SCORE! Active program. The study focuses on engaging newcomer families with children ages 5-11 in the Stinson and Landsdale neighbourhoods to promote healthy lifestyles and reduce the risk of chronic illnesses such as CVD, diabetes and obesity. In this study, participants will:
- Take part in twice-weekly, free physical activity programs
- Meet a Community Recreation Navigator who will connect families with local recreation programs
- Join a Community Advisory Board to help shape positive change (optional)
- Participate in a free Leadership Academy Course to develop community-level leadership skills (optional)
Barton Branch
Opened in May 1908, Barton Branch was first in the Hamilton Public Library system. The Branch occupied several permanent and temporary locations over the next 50 years, before it moved to its present location in November 1963. Barton Branch was most recently renovated in 2011.
